Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists and of books and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Tuesday 16 January 2018’s #TopTenTuesday is “Bookish Resolutions/Goals” and here are mine:
1 – Continue to listen to more audiobooks, as and when I get the chance. I have made a start with some favourites from Agatha Christie that I first read years ago:
2 – Revisit some classic crime – see above.
3 – Read 120 books (see above, above!), as per my 2018 Goodreads Challenge. I have not managed my target for the past few years but I am hoping that listening to the audiobooks will help.
4 – Try to make a dent in my what-has-now-had-to-be-renamed Goodreads shelf, to read before 2020 (from ‘to read in 2018′)! Ahh, gaze at all the beautiful books:
5 – Bloody well start reading some of the great crime fiction series (that I’ve so far missed out on) at the end of this post.
6 – Catch up on some of the series I’ve been neglecting, such as Val McDermid’s Tony Hill & Carol Jordan books, Christopher Fowler’s Bryant & May cases, Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta series and Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum adventures.
7 – Continue to review and to blog, and to start a JuliaPalooza blog feature called #TBIFriday. Thank Book It’s Friday! is where I will start the weekend by sharing the #booklove for some of my all-time favourites (spoiler: not ALL of them will be crime!)
8 – Actually write down the murder mystery story I’ve been carrying around in my head for about eight years…
9 – And/or try to write down one of the other murder mystery stories that I’ve had in mind for marginally less than eight years.
10 – Try to complete more of NaNoWriMo (or Camp NaNoWriMo) than just signing up, picking the same old genre and copying and pasting four paragraphs from the previous year into a new document!
Let’s hope I can work towards these goals during the year. Happy 2018 everyone, and I hope you keep any resolutions or goals you have set yourself! x
Wow, you have a long TBR list. I hope you’ll be able to chip away at it this year.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

I love me some good crime fiction, but I feel like I am ALWAYS behind on reading all the great series that are out there. Which are your favorites?
Happy TTT!

Oh wow, so many to choose from! You’ve got your ‘classic classics’ like Agatha Christie, or modern classics like Val McDermid’s Tony Hill & Carol Jordan series. People really recommend Peter James’s Roy Grace series of police procedurals but I’ve not got to them yet. One of my favourite relatively new series is JK Rowling writing as Robert Galbraith – starting with The Cuckoo’s Calling. A great series and I’m (im)patiently waiting for the fourth one! Enjoy 🙂 x

Thanks for all these suggestions. I’ve read two Agatha Christie books (AND THEN THERE WERE NONE and MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS), but that’s it from your list. I’ll check the rest of these out.

You’re very welcome. Those are two of her best (in my opinion) and I also like Death on the Nile, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and Evil Under the Sun x

Yes yes yes to the writing goal! All are good, but I enthusiastically support anyone who has a story in their head to write it down! I am in the same boat, we can definitely get our stories done. Good luck on all your goals, happy reading!

Hi! I like that Snoopy cartoon 🙂 I love your ‘read before 2020’ title. Haha, I should call my TBR the same!

😀 Ha, ‘read in 2018’ already felt impossible/overwhelming! 🙂

You have some great goals listed here! I really hope that you get the chance to begin writing your mystery novel. That’s a long time to carry around a good idea : ) Best of luck with your resolutions in 2018!
