Send in the Clowns by Julie Mulhern
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is a fun, enjoyable cozy murder mystery. But it’s not too cozy; it’s witty and not twee. Ellison is a strong female lead, neatly keeping two handsome men at arms (kissing!) length and the supporting cast of Aggie, Libba and Grace are also steely.
The mystery is a good one; I did not guess the ending and it all made sense. My only gripe is that some of Ellison’s internal thoughts are a bit repetitive and I felt a bit beaten around the head by how much she drinks coffee, thinks about coffee and craves coffee!
Although this is the first of Julie Mulhern’s books that I’ve read, I doubt it will be the last. Thank you to NetGalley and Henery Press for the ARC of Send in the Clowns.
