The Last Stage is the latest psychological mystery thriller from the fab Louise Voss. Having loved last year’s The Old You, I was delighted to be able to join this Orenda Books tour too!
The prologue and opening chapter unnervingly set the scene and the story itself jumps back and forth in time and is told from several disparate viewpoints – both favourite devices of mine.
At first you don’t quite know how each of the strands will come together and I did not spot the clues as they were cleverly laid out throughout the story. I’d had my suspicions early on but fortunately I was completely wrong!
All the characters are well fleshed out and each one leaps off the page (warts and all!)
The book is nicely plotted and well written and it is easy to race through, from the creepy opening to the breathless finale – it is a perfect beach holiday read.
I recommend The Last Stage to anybody looking for a deep, drama-filled psychological murder mystery thriller. Bring on the next Louise Voss!
