Out of Bounds (Inspector Karen Pirie 4) by Val McDermid

Out of Bounds (Inspector Karen Pirie, #4)Out of Bounds by Val McDermid
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an assured murder mystery in which DCI Karen Pirie’s cold cases collide with some very current ones. I love Val McDermid’s confident, clear, wry writing style and her well-developed characters. The threads of the plot are woven carefully together like a spider’s web and slowly grabs hold of you just as effectively. I like the characters of Karen and Jason and am looking forward to their next case.

There were one or two loose ends that I felt were still hanging at the end, despite it being a good long book, but it is a skillful, well-written and profound read. 3.5/5

Thank you to NetGalley, Little, Brown Book Group UK and Val McDermid for an ARC of Out of Bounds, in exchange for an honest review.
