The Killing Game by J.S. Carol
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, this is one of the best thrillers I’ve ever read and I’ve still barely got my breath back! It grabbed me from the first few paragraphs and I was absolutely on the edge of my seat throughout. It was so captivating and well-written; the characters and the tension leaped off the page – there were some moments when I felt genuinely frightened and jumped at any loud noise around me!
At times the book reminded me of parts of Die Hard, A Snowball in Hell (Christopher Brookmyre) and Ragdoll (Daniel Cole) – all of which are a compliment, but this is definitely its own story. It is original, inventive, clever, disturbing, very atmospheric and full of twists and the conclusion is a revelation. I was racing towards the finish but I didn’t want it to end! I thought it was amazing. Thank you so much to Bookouture and NetGalley (and obviously James Carol) for the ARC of The Killing Game.
